A Safe and Welcoming Church Art Competition 2025

Introduction

A Safe and Welcoming Church; Safeguarding Children Policy and Standards for the Catholic Church in Ireland, 2024 designed by the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (NBSCCCI) and informed by and embedded in Gospel values and in the rights of children, presents the most up-to-date, best practice opportunity for all members of the Catholic Church in Ireland to ensure that all ministry with children is safe.

The NBSCCCI is asking what the revision of the child safeguarding policy has really meant for children and young people, how has it impacted their feelings of safety within the Church.

Through this art competition we are calling on categories of children from any age up to 18 years to have an artistic say in what a safe and welcoming Church means to them.
