The National Board is hosting several short training events in March and April in various Diocese throughout Ireland as an induction to the revised Safeguarding Children Policy, entitled – A Safe and Welcoming Church, Policy and Standards for the Catholic Church in Ireland 2024.
The events are open to all but in particular the following should attend:
- Bishops and Provincial Leaders
- Safeguarding Directors
- DLPs
- Safeguarding Committee Members
- Advisors
- Support people
- Anyone else who has safeguarding responsibilities
Please note this training event will be facilitated again on several alternative dates, to allow people the flexibility to attend once, on one of the dates offered.

His Grace, Archbishop Eamon Martin is hosting an Ecclesiastical Provincial Area Meeting on the 11th of December 2023 assisted by the National Office for Safeguarding Children.
The purpose of the event is for staff from the National Office to meet with bishops, provincials, superiors and designated liaison people (DLPs) from dioceses, religious congregations and orders across the Armagh ecclesiastical province area, to discuss common issues of interest, and to consider how further improvements in safeguarding practice can be made.
A letter of invitation will be sent to Church authorities(both diocesan and male and female religious) for Church bodies in the ecclesiastical area.

Agenda items will include:
- Current projects underway in the National Board.
- Consultation on the revision of the Child Safeguarding Policy
- New additions to the guidance
