This training will be delivered online and is for those who have no ministry with children and are not managing child protection cases. The purpose of this training is to help those in religious Church bodies understand the purpose of annual self-audits and to provide practical advice on how to do this well.
This training is suitable for Church authorities or anyone involved in carrying out safeguarding audits for Church bodies who have no ministry with children and who are not managing child safeguarding concerns.
As the training will be delivered online, it is essential that you have a device with a microphone and video camera.
Once you have registered staff from the National Board will group the attendees across multiple dates in July 2020. You will be contacted to ensure that the dates and times are suitable to you and then you will be provided with a direct link to the meeting and instructions as to how to join. You will only be required to attend one event.

This session was compulsory for those who are currently registered or are completing their registration as trainers with the NBSCCCI. This half day will covered the following areas:
- Presenting the new training manual.
- Providing an opportunity to network with other trainers from across the country.
Cost for this training is 35 euro per person (including lunch).

This training was previously facilitated on the 27/02/2019.
The day covered a range of topics relating to safeguarding including:
- The strategic role of the Church authority in relation to safeguarding.
- Pastoral ministry and safeguarding.
- The importance of governance.

This training was designed for people who have recently taken on the role of Designated Liaison Person or Deputy DLP, or who have never been able to attend role specific training before. It covered the following areas:
- Clarifying the role of DLP
- Hearing safeguarding concerns and record keeping
- Communication and supervision
- Conducting an internal report on cases for the Church authority

His Grace, Archbishop Michale Neary is hosting an Ecclesiastical Provincial Area Meeting on the 5th December 2019 assisted by the National Office for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland.
The purpose of the event is for staff from the National Office to meet with Bishops, Provincials, Superiors, designated liaison people (DLP) and trainers from dioceses, religious congregations and orders across the Tuam ecclesiastical province area, to discuss common issues of interest to further develop best practice in relation to safeguarding children. Topics for discussion include:
- Current projects underway in the National Board
- Revision of guidance and requirements following Vos estis lux mundi (Child safeguarding only)
- Legal mechanisms for information sharing with the National Board
- Training and Support Strategy, training requirements and revision of the training manual
- International missionary practice
- Safeguarding Sundays
