T he Safeguarding Office has now published the latest newsletter, giving an update on all safeguarding work since last Autumn.
NBSCCCI Appoints New CEO

The National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland has appointed Teresa Devlin as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Mrs Devlin has been with the NBSCCCI since August 2008 and most recently had been filling the role of interim CEO. Prior to that she was the Director of Safeguarding with the National Board.
“Teresa brings a unique combination of experience, compassion and insight to the role and we are delighted to have her leading the team,” said John Morgan, Chairman, NBSCCCI. “We are hugely confident that she will continue to work with distinction as she moves into the CEO post permanently.”
Progress Good But Not Consistent

The Fourth Tranche of the Reviews of Safeguarding practice across the Catholic Church was released today by the seven Church authorities involved. They were the Dioceses of Achonry, Kerry, Ossory and Down & Connnor, the Archdioceses of Armagh and Cashel & Emly as well as the Christian Brothers and the St Patrick’s Missionary Society. This brings the total of Church authorities reviewed to date by this process to 27.
T he National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church ( NBSCCCI) has overall responsibility for monitoring practice in the area of safeguarding and protection of children and young persons in the Church. The Board has advertised the post of Chief Executive Officer. This is a fixed term three year post.
The Safeguarding Office has now published its Autumn newsletter giving an update on all safeguarding work since last April. Included in this issue is a section on Practice matters which gives clarification on different issues where advice from the National Office has been sought.
