This 2- hour Zoom event is intended for members of religious congregations, priests, parish safeguarding representatives and local safeguarding offices. The talk presented by the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (NBSCCCI) and delivered by Natalie Doherty offers a focused opportunity to reflect prayerfully and prudently on the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Church’s ministry, communication, and safeguarding responsibilities at all levels. Building our understanding and awareness of Artificial Intelligence enables us to strengthen safeguarding practices, while also equipping us to guide and support children and young people in navigating digital spaces safely, responsibly, and with due respect for their dignity and wellbeing.
The talk will consider both the opportunities and the challenges posed by AI, including data protection, digital manipulation, over-reliance on automated systems, and emerging risks to children and vulnerable persons. This reflection will be guided by the Church’s moral and social teaching, in particular Pope Leo’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, which affirms the inherent dignity of every human person and calls for careful discernment in responding to emerging technological realities. This talk recently delivered to Church Leaders now aims to support those in pastoral and safeguarding leadership in responding faithfully and responsibly to the demands of an evolving digital landscape.

This training is for Safeguarding Lead Personnel and will be delivered by F.S.P.S. (Finnegan Specialist Psychotherapy Service) which is a Specialist Therapeutic and Forensic Intervention Service set up by Eileen Finnegan. Eileen is accredited with MIACP, MIAHIP, MEAP, MEAC, and FTAI as both a Psychotherapist and Supervisor.

This training is designed for people who have recently taken on the role of Designated Liaison Person or Deputy DLP, or who have never been able to attend role specific training before. It will be co-facilitated by an experienced DLP and it covers the following areas:
- Clarifying the role of DLP
- Hearing safeguarding concerns and record keeping
- Communication and supervision
- Conducting an internal report on cases for the Church authority

His Grace, Archbishop Eamon Martin is hosting an Ecclesiastical Provincial Area Meeting on the 20th of November 2025 assisted by the NBSCCCI, Towards Peace and Towards Healing.
The purpose of the event is for staff from the National Office to meet with bishops, provincials, superiors and safeguarding personnel from dioceses, religious congregations and orders across the Cashel and Emly ecclesiastical province area, to discuss common issues of interest, and to consider how further improvements in safeguarding practice can be made.
A letter of invitation has been sent to Church authorities (both diocesan and male and female religious) in the ecclesiastical area.
