His Grace, Archbishop Dermot Farrell is hosting an Ecclesiastical Provincial Area Meeting on the 23rd of November 2023 assisted by the National Office for Safeguarding Children.
The purpose of the event is for staff from the National Office to meet with bishops, provincials, superiors and designated liaison people (DLPs) from dioceses, religious congregations and orders across the Dublin ecclesiastical province area, to discuss common issues of interest, and to consider how further improvements in safeguarding practice can be made.
A letter of invitation will be sent to Church authorities(both diocesan and male and female religious) for Church bodies in the ecclesiastical area.

Agenda items will include:
- Current projects underway in the National Board.
- Consultation on the revision of the Child Safeguarding Policy

This training event is for Church authorities and safeguarding personnel involved in ensuring groups using Church property and lay associations are safe to do so.
The day will include discussions and presentation on the following:
- Understanding lay associations of the faithful and the new procedure for groups to become recognised as associate members of the National Board.
- Discussing how to assist groups who are not national organisations but are carrying out important ministry with children in Church property.
- Discussing how to ensure appropriate governance arrangements are in place to identify groups that are ministering on behalf of the Church or using property, and to ensure good safeguarding practice.

At the meeting the National Board will present the latest draft, update participants on the work so far and then ask questions and receive your comments which we will incorporate into the work as we progress.
This meeting is open to all relevant Church personnel.
Please note this meeting will be facilitated on another 5 dates- should you be unable to attend the meeting relevant to your area, feel free to attend any of the others.
